Tennis Club

We play on three new hard, flood-lit courts at Chulmleigh Sports Centre. Members are given
an access code to the tennis courts and benefit from the facilities at the centre including
showers and toilets. We share the courts and centre with the school and community which has
a number of advantages, including the fact that our community tennis coach, Sarah Caffry, is
based at the sports centre.

We are lucky to have two coaches working with us and so can offer coaching for all ages and
abilities. Sarah runs beginner and improver classes for adults and children and multi-skills for
the very young. You don't even have to be a club member to take part in our community
coaching. Chulmleigh Tennis club is also mini tennis accredited and last Summer Sarah ran a
successful "Summer camp" coaching 75 children. Jon Triggs (Westward Ho's club coach) has
also joined us to give our talented youngsters, squads and more advanced adults extra
coaching. In all we are running nine weekly coaching sessions plus junior matchplay.

This year the club has entered two league teams, one ladies' and one men's with plans for a
second men's team next year. We also run a friendly in house tournament, with, as well as the
usual singles and doubles, a parent/junior tournament to encourage youngsters to get their first
taste of competitive tennis in a friendly environment. This year we hope to run a junior
tournament too.

The club also has a social club night, social club afternoon and family club session. On the last
Thursday in the month we usually run an open, friendly tournament, encouraging other players
in the area to join us for an evening. Last year we also held a Prince racquet demo and a
number of free taster sessions, check out our club events page to see what's planned.

We have an active committee, eleven strong, and as we are a new club we encourage
members to suggest ideas, set up new sessions and generally mould the club the way they
would like to see it. As well as access to the courts, club members get the chance to enter the
draw for the club's Wimbledon tickets and many more offers. For more information on joining
